Grazalema
| Set in a valley, underneath a rocky outcrop, Grazalema
is a good place to base yourself if you want to explore the nearby
Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, which boasts a number of different
vulture species as well as the rare Spanish Ibex. It is also reputed
to have the highest rainfall in Spain, although you wouldn’t
guess it from the cactus plants at the town’s entrance.
Grazalema has a wonderfully shady town square with a café on
one side. It is the perfect place to stop for a long leisurely
lunch after exploring nearby Villauenga de la Rosario. |
 |
Arrive at the wrong time of day and this town will
be firmly in the middle of a long siesta.
The sun's reflection off the white walls can be blinding and the heat
intense, so during this period you too
may opt to go for a siesta or even better, along, leisurely lunch.
