French Property/Brittany

Brittany is a beautiful area and very popular and convenient with property buyers from the United Kingdom buying holiday homes and gites.

People in Brittany are friendly and will tell you they are not French, but Breton, a spoken dialect!

Brittany is a deservedly popular holiday area with excellent beaches and beautiful countryside including ancient sites with Celtic history and culture.

Northern Brittany the Cote d'Emeraude has loads of fine sandy beaches which become somewhat wilder the further west you travel – Cote de Granite Rose – coves, cliffs and caves.

Brittany's land's end, Finistere, has spectacular cliffs with outlying small villages.

The south coast of Brittany enjoys a milder and warmer climate (helped by the Gulf Stream) with miles of safe sandy beaches.
Inland the country becomes more rocky with lots of small wooded valleys which enable such activities as walking, riding and cycling to fishing and canoeing.

Pontivy, Josselin, Dinan and Vannes are full of history with megaliths, churches and the 'quest for the Holy Grail' and the Arthurian legend.

A short drive to the south, is the beautiful Golfe du Morbihan, offering all manner of water-sports, a yachtsman's dream and many small islands to visit on the regular ferries (plenty of great beaches here also). Other seaside and tourist resorts include and the beautiful towns of Vannes, Auray and Concarneau. The pretty town of Pont Aven is also worth a visit to see the work of local artists.

The huge lakes at Guerledan and Priziac also offer excellent facilities boating and sunbathing conditions.

Guemene-sur-Scorff - a pretty old town in the heart of South Brittany in the department of Morbihan. Fine mediaeval houses and ruins of an old castles

Guemene - is surrounded by beautiful countryside, where you can walk in woods or beside the river Scorff. The roads are ideal for cycling. There is also a nine-hole golf course at Rimaison with a club house and shop.

Guerledan – lake surrounded by a forest. Great for swimming, canoeing and water-skiing.

Lac de Bel Air at Priziac – huge with beaches and woods where you can enjoy fishing, sailing and bathing.

Ploërdut – a village where you will find great boulangeries and a pub.

Rimaison – nine hole golf course with clubhouse and a shop.
